William Gillette papers, ca. 1897-1930.

A collection of correspondence sent to William Gillette, Hartford, Connecticut, native and actor well known for his stage portrayal of Sherlock Holmes. When Gillette was on his final tour as Sherlock Holmes, a testimonial luncheon was held for him in Hartford. Tickets from the event, and correspondence concerning it, are included in the collection. Other ephemera are a breakfast menu from the RMS "Baltic" and a music program from the Holland-America Line (SS Rotterdam).
